what's in your notebook?

I want to be a more active blogger, but my lack of camera is a major barrier! So I decided to take advantage of having access to one at work and took some pictures of the contents of my notebook. Now you'll have something (hopefully) interesting to look at though not fashion related.

Do any of you carry a notebook around for ideas and doodles? I never leave home without mine! I have a weird little hobby of writing syllabic poems (mostly haikus and tankas that I put on my tumblr), and I like to jot them down immediately as they come to me. Here you can see a bit of my writing process! Also, you may not know this about me, but I'm a wee bit of a cartoonist... not that I'm ready to be featured at the Louvre or anything, but I do enjoy it if just for my own amusement. So for your entertainment, here is a sneak peak at the contents of my notebook (which disturbingly might reveal the contents of my mind!):

Some strange cowboy cat that came out of my imagination after several of the previous doodle.

Hey, Arnold! Because I can.

A creepy looking portrait of my hand. Ugh, more incentive not to smoke: my skin could really look like this some day!

Quotes I liked from a magazine article.

Poems being born.

I dunno, why the heck not?

Haha, a little doodle I drew to shame my PMSing boo.

Bare with me while I await the arrival of my camera's replacement charger and there shall be pretty clothes galore!

Zombies on the move!

For spring break, I am traveling around and hanging out with my favorite baby-boomers: My mom and my aunt! I'm in Louisville right now and am going to Cincinnati to see my grandma before all is said and done. I'm having a ball with all the vintage and thrifting to be done but don't have much time to blog. So while I am away, I thought I'd leave you with Six Random Things about myself that you may not already know.

1. Tattoos:

I love tattoos! I have several and am always fantasizing about getting more. Almost all of mine are literary inspired. The one here is from the book The Runaway Bunny.

2. Harry potter:

I am a Harry Potter freak. Not only do I have one of the aforementioned literary tattoos to comemorate this series, I am also diligently working in the academic realm on a literary thesis about the social issues and commentaries in the text. Nerd alert??

3. Fruit-flavored cream cheese and lox:

This weird combo just happens to be my favorite snack. Neighborhood delis know me by my lox and fruit fetish. They only make fun of me a little.

4. Religious studies:

I’m not religious myself, but I LOVE studying religion! I am a religious studies minor and my RELS classes are some of my favorites. It fuels my curiosity to understand what makes people tick. (In case you're curious, the badass religious figures above include Arjuna and Krishna from the Mahabharata, the republican party's favorite martyr J.C, his holiness the Dalai Lama who is always so cute with a big smile despite being totaly homeless, and a hasidic guy at the world's most well-loved wall)

5. Science Fiction and Mafia Stories:

These are two of my favorite genres. I love nothing better than a good violent mobster flick or a super-nerdy episode of Star Trek the next generation. I didn't know what to do with myself when the Sopranos ended.

6. The Great Outdoors:

Despite being a slave to fashion and clothing, I actually have an outdoorsy side! I was exposed to backpacking and kayaking from a young age with my dad, and the outdoor bug (perhaps you’d call it a tick) has stayed with me ever since. I even work at my University’s outdoor center!

Hope this was interesting and enlightening. Now I tag my hilarious, inappropriate, funny (though looks aren't everything) home-boy and local comic JOE PETTIS to tell us all 6 things about his bad self.

3rd of 3rd

Emily from Like Lilly Vintage tagged me to do the Fourth of Fourth game, but I've already done it, so I decided to go ahead for the Third of Third, seeing as three is a magic number and what not.

This picture is from my 21st birthday party, which had an Alice in Wonderland theme. I love themed parties, so I tend to go all out, and this one was no exception. Below you see the homemade "Eat Me" cookies like the ones in the books/movie!

You can also see some of the decorations I had scattered around such as teacups and teapots, and playing cards. I was dressed as a modern day red-headed Alice.

Now I gotta think of a theme for my 22nd birthday! How does Cadillacs on 22s sound?
I tag Dearilu!
